Eye Health

In this section we aim to provide general information on some of the major eye conditions which may need to be treated. However, we cannot cover all eye conditions and diseases.

Eye conditions can be extremely complex and any information provided in this website should not be taken as advice applicable to any individual patient.

Any patient who is worried or unsure about his or her individual circumstances should seek specialist advice.

If you experience the following symptoms, please see your doctor or Accident and Emergency department as soon as possible:

  • sudden pain

  • loss of sight

  • lots of flashing lights

Regular eye checks should provide the basis for maintaining proper eye health as some of the serious eye conditions do not have any visible early warning symptoms.

In the event of any unexpected problems arising or sudden injuries, it is important to be able to  recognise signs and symptoms and to take the appropriate action, which could be crucial to preserving sight.
